Straight Answers About Your Heating & Cooling

Practical tips from more than 40 years in the trade, plus what to expect when you call Legacy HCR.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer free consultations or second opinions?

Yes. Consultations and second opinions are always free. Call and talk through what is going on before anything gets scheduled.

What if I have an emergency outside business hours?

Legacy HCR offers 24-hour emergency service for heating, cooling and refrigeration breakdowns. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and phones are answered from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

How often should I change my air filter?

Regularly. A dirty or clogged filter reduces airflow and puts extra wear on your system. If you are not sure which filter is right for your system, call and we will help.

My system is more than 15 years old. Should I replace it?

If your system is more than 15 years old, it may be worth considering a newer, Energy Star-rated replacement. We will take a look and give you an honest read on repair versus replacement.

Why does my outdoor condenser need space around it?

Keep at least 12 inches clear around your outdoor condenser. Plants, clutter and debris crowding the unit reduce its efficiency.

Do you install Wi-Fi or programmable thermostats?

Yes. Programmable and Wi-Fi thermostats can run your system more efficiently than older models, and Wi-Fi models can be adjusted from your phone or laptop. We also set up control-system zoning.

What brands do you work on?

Legacy HCR services all major HVAC/R brands, so you are not limited to one manufacturer for repairs, parts or installation.

Do you work on commercial properties or just homes?

Both. Legacy HCR handles residential and commercial heating, cooling and refrigeration, including restaurants, grocery stores, walk-in coolers and ice machines.
